The Huntington's Disease Society of America's (HDSA) Washington State Chapter has announced Shahilene “Shay” Dillon is the “2020 Team Hope Walk Ambassador for Western Washington”.

Shay, whose family has a history of Huntington’s Disease, has been a member of the Washington State Chapter since 2016, a past chapter president and has twice served as chair of the chapter’s fundraising Team Hope Walk event, raising more than the $40,000 in the process. The money raised from the walk goes towards research and supports the efforts of regional family services to include support groups and social workers who provide a vital link to families fighting HD which is an important aspect for Shay.

“It’s all about inspiration,” Shay says. “My first walk was at the HDSA National Convention in Baltimore in 2016 and I was hooked. There was love, encouragement and support from everyone there. It changed me. I wake up every day inspired by the people who participate in our walks to do more. It brought up lots of feelings about caregivers and how important they are for my family and so many others.”

The 2020 Team Hope Walk will be virtual. Once your register a team you’ll be invited to the Zoom Event. To learn more about the event, click here

“Whether this is your first Team Hope Walk or you’ve done others in the past, don’t be afraid to ask for help,” Shay says. “We’re families and friends. Be brave. Ask your circle of friends to support you in fundraising or for sponsorship from their businesses. Thank you everyone for being my light!”
